This is just a personal sentiment, but I used to love watching the taillights of the last 500-series Shinkansen bound for Hakata as it pulled away from the Joetsu Shinkansen platform at Tokyo Station or other stations on my way home from work. For me, it was the end of my shift; for passengers on board, it was the return from a business trip or a journey to prepare for the next day—the Shinkansen races all the way to Kyushu, carrying a variety of emotions. The glow of those tail lights, distinct from other Shinkansen models, also evoked various feelings in my heart. I developed this miniature model hoping it would convey that same sense of wonder.
